Comprehensive Planning Template for Math

One of my goals this term is to ensure that our team of teachers has a planning template or checklist of thinking supports to help guide their thinking and practice when teaching mathematics.

Elements that needed to be addressed were our ability to question students to encourage discussion, scaffold student learning, understand the expectations for each phase of the curriculum, and highlight whether our lessons are balanced.

Teachers can get easily frustrated trying to find their planning within their Google Drive.  They want to locate everything in one space.  Therefore, I've designed a Math Planning Template that supports the needs of the team of teachers I work with.

If we can effectively track our progress over the year, and ensure that we're achieving the goals set by not only the Ministry but our students... we're hoping to alleviate the expectations for future teachers to 'catch them up'.

One of the new skills I have learnt while attending the Digital Fluency Intensive programme here in Taipa is creating an infographic through google doc's.  I never realised how more visually eye catching it is to read as opposed to the normal boring word document.  They can be used for posters, newsletters, visual aides....actually if you can think it, you can no doubt make it.  I've discovered you just have to jump in and give things a go. Google Slide Animation

Digital Fluency Session 3 Today's session had me thinking about the different ways in which we can utilise the tools in google slides to develop and enhance student creativity.  Many examples were shown, such as A nimations, Pick a path stories, Visual Narratives, Presentations, Teaching concepts, quizzes…. I decided to have a go at creating an animation based on the inquiry project my class is currently focusing on - 'Drowning in Plastic'. Here is what I was able to create. Google Certified Educator Level 2

Google Certified Educator Level 2 I went into the exam feeling fairly confident....I mean surely I can complete the tasks within 180 minutes right?  Well wrong - I spent a lot of time reading into the multiple choice and drag and drop questions.  Some answers seemed the same, so it's really easy to question your knowledge and understanding of different topics and scenarios. I think there was something like 12 scenarios where we had to use all the knowledge, skills and competencies we'd been studying about relating to the Google for Education tools e.g. youtube, spreadsheets, docs, new google sites, gmail, calendar, blogger, drive, hangouts, forms, google scholar and chrome extensions.  Time just started ticking away....I mean the last 10 minutes was absolutely intense and I knew I wasn't going to complete the exam...so had to race, pick and choose the tasks that i'd be able to complete the quickest.
